Hastings Prince Edward Public Health workers’ last contract expired at the end of 2017. The Canadian Union of Public Employees and Hastings Prince Edward Public Health met with a Ministry of Labour-appointed conciliator on Wednesday February 27th to try to reach a new contract agreement but the talks failed. It was reported that the meeting ended before noon.

CUPE Local 3314 has called a meeting on Thursday February 28th. The meeting will be held at the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre (5:00pm-7:00pm). An email went out today requesting all members to attend.

HPEPH and CUPE Local 3314 last sat down with a conciliator in September, 2018, but little progress was made as the workers were asked to accept some concessions.

CUPE Local 3314 represents health promoters, public health inspectors, tobacco enforcement officers, certified dental assistants, dental hygienists and other workers. The employees also hope to keep sick benefits, layoff provisions and other conditions gained at previous bargaining sessions.
