Residents warned about thin ice on river in Bancroft

Thin Ice
Bancroft

Police in Bancroft are warning residents about the dangers of venturing out on the ice.

A media release from the Bancroft OPP said officers responded on Monday afternoon to a report of youths being spotted on the York River in the town.

The ice is very thin at that location because of the current, and police spoke with the young people about what would have happened if someone fell through.

The OPP, North Hastings Fire Services and Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services want everyone to speak up about the risks of going out onto thin ice and anywhere there might be a current.
